Certain requirements must be fulfilled before implementing Emerald Web Shield
content filtration.
|
|
The Emerald Web Shield must reside on a machine with the Dot Net Framework
Version 1.1 installed. This is a free download from Microsoft (and is
included in Windows Server 2003).
The following operating systems are supported for the software.
-
Windows 2000 Pro
-
Windows 2000 Server
-
Windows XP Pro
-
Windows Server 2003 (all editions)
CPU: 2 Ghz or better
RAM : 300 MB free RAM
HD : 35 MB free space
Users: The software is licensed to be run on 25 users on
less. More than that must purchase an additional license.
|
|
The machine the web filter software must reside on a machine with a static IP
address. This machine must also be accessable from all other machines to
be filtered on the network.
|
|
A broadband or better Internet connection is required. The main reason for
this requirement is you cannot download the updates on a dialup
modem. We average around 4 megabytes worth of downloads per 24 hour
period.
|
|
You must have a DHCP server that can issue custom IP addresses. Some very
old consumer grade routers and firewalls cannot do this. The machine(s)
where the filter software is installed must be used as the primary DNS servers
for client machines.

this is important.
