Failover Built-in

The DNS system is a mature, time-tested standard that is designed with built-in failover.  Because our web filter service is based on DNS queries, you inherently receive the same failover protection.  Every operating system supports DNS lookups to resolve domain names.  Almost all support the use of two or more servers for this name lookup.

A large added benefit to this type of filtration is that we do not become a network bottleneck.  And for failover and redundancy more than one can be installed.  All modern operating systems have the ability to automatically fail over from one DNS server to another in the event of a failure.  In the event that a single DNS web filter server is unavailable all DNS requests the Operating System automatically falls back to one of the other servers with no disruption in internet browsing or filtration.  Most hardware solutions lack any backup or failover if the machine fails for any reason.
